The following key individuals make up Signal 88 Security's corporate team. Each has been selected specifically for their talent, vision, and experience. Together, they work to re-engineer the security industry and, most importantly, ensure our clients an exceptional experience.   

Reed Nyffeler, Chief Executive OfficerReed Nyffeler, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder
Reed Nyffeler oversees the overall direction and vision of Signal 88 as well as all new services, research & development, administrative duties, sales and marketing strategies, and general operations.  Reed and Shea Degan met in 2007 and developed the idea of the transformation of Shea’s local Omaha security company into a successful franchise concept.  In 2007, Signal 88 Franchise Group, Inc. was born and Reed was charged with developing strategies to exponentially expand the Signal 88 Security footprint nationally in all aspects of the business.  Reed received a B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Communications.  He then went on to be the Regional Sales Manager at Black & Decker in the Midwest.  Taking his experiences, he became the National Sales Executive for a prominent holiday lighting distributor and developed the distributorship program, before moving on to Signal 88.



Ty Hughes, Vice President of Business DevelopmentTy Hughes, Vice President of Business Development

Ty Hughes joined the Signal 88 Security team in 2011. Ty oversees the overall direction and vision of the Business Development division crafting sales and marketing strategies, providing on-going training, national contract procurement & vision, and serving as a business consultant to franchise owners through direct involvement in their franchises. He brings to the team an extensive background in raising capital, cultivating new business from a variety of networks and evaluating businesses for operational improvement. He possesses an innate ability to communicate with people and help them maximize their potential for success and fulfillment. Ty earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Central Missouri and a Masters, Business Administration at the University of Nebraska. He and his family have lived in Omaha since 2000.



Josh Minturn, VP of Franchise DevelopmentJosh Minturn, Vice President of Franchise Development
Josh Minturn joined the Signal 88 team in 2009 providing on-going sales training, sales & marketing research & development, national contract procurement & vision, and supplying various knowledge based tools and marketing products to existing Signal 88 Security franchisees.  Josh graduated from Creighton University with a B.S.B.A. of Marketing.  He then worked as an account executive for a national media group and then moved on to be the National Sales Manager, then National Director of Sales for a prominent holiday lighting distributor prior to joining the Signal 88 Franchise Group, Inc. team.   



Laura Vodvarka, VP of AdminLaura Vodvarka, Vice President of Administration
Laura joined Signal 88 in 2007 and oversee’s the administrative department, including all new & existing technology, communications & marketing projects, franchise training, billing and payroll.  Laura graduated from Creighton University with a B.S.B.A. in both Marketing and Spanish.  Throughout her career, she worked for a marketing research firm and then moved onto marketing and auditing at a prominent holiday lighting distributor.  Laura joined Signal 88 in its early stages to help administer the Signal 88 Omaha location in order to learn the concept and in turn to help develop the Franchise Group model & supporting documents.

Shea & Janet DeganShea & Janet Degan

In 2003, Shea Degan and his wife, Janet, founded a local security company, Signal 88 Security, in Omaha, NE. Shea worked as deputy sheriff for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in the Road Patrol Division and K9 Interdiction Unit for nearly 10-years. The company name, Signal 88 Security, was selected because "Signal 88" is Nebraska police code for, "situation secure".

Combining Shea's criminal justice education, 10-years of security, and nearly 12-years of law enforcement experience with three agencies, the company was created in response to the increasing security needs of Omaha businesses. Through Shea's leadership and vision, Signal 88 Security evolved into a cutting-edge security business. His vision for Signal 88 Security is to become the world leader and the industry standard for private security.
